Immigrant 3: One Nation Under Siege


With “THE NO KINGS DAY” efforts well underway ask: What’s accomplished? Yes, a marvelous turn out! Yes, a venting of frustration and a celebration of comradery! But what are the powers that be witnessing? And what have they already decided to do? Do they see the gorillas of the 60’s resurfacing or temper throwing monkeys swinging on a chain waving a tin cup begging to be refilled. Then by all means, rest sure, they will gladly fill the cup with some consoling trinkets and sacrificial lambs. But not a Constitutional review and overhaul or an amendment. Maybe there’ll be a new bill, a few temporary programs and some compensatory grants to prevent a brush fire from becoming a forest blaze. Isn’t that what was done during the near threat of another revolution in the 60’s and 70’s?

Dare disagree? Consider enjoying a picnic at the beach! Mindful of the many annoying, swift eagle-eyed seagulls deprived of their once abundant supply of seashore goodies; would you dare abandon your treasure trove of delights on the table and grill?   Knowing their desperate situation, isn’t it fun throwing occasional tidbits to watch a bunch of them battle for a French Fry? Ha! Have you ever considered tossing a few smothered in hot sauce? Isn’t that what happened among many originally united grassroot initiatives? Toss a little lifeline at segregation, housing, education, health care, welfare, food banks etc. to misdirect attention, turn everyone into monkeys chasing their tails while defunding and dismantling them one by one. Wow! Easy as shooting crabs in a barrel, it’s the sleight of hand tricks of dirty Poker Players and sneaky Magicians at its best!

But what’s that got to do with Immigration; the hot potato no one wants to peal and dig too deep into? International immigrants (e.g. specialty groups coming out of Russia and Germany during the world wars), if they serve a purpose (e.g. industry, science, technology) they continue to be extended the legal indoctrinating process for permanent status (passports, visas, green cards, and finally the test for citizenship). However, now there’s a push for affordability: If you’re able to purchase the proposed MILLION DOLLAR GOLD membership to sit among the elite YOU’RE IN! If not, don’t even try: ICE IS RUNNING RABID!

Migrants are different! While originally contributing to needed seasonal workforces (e.g. California agriculture and Texas ranching), playing key roles in the construction industry to build local urban infrastructure and housing (e.g. New York and Chicago), stimulating economic growth by filling factory labor shortages and various positions in the service sectors (e.g. house cleaning, janitors, and doorman); they were not supposed to stay! They were not intended to enhance cultural diversity and influence demographic changes, enrich local communities with various traditions and cuisines, embrace entrepreneurial opportunities to establish businesses serving local populations, or permanently impact political representation in growing urban areas. Understanding the notion of “GARBAGE IN AND OUT” they were supposed to leave!

And this is where current events put American BIGOTRY on the global stage. In the NY Harbor, stated on the Statue of Liberty for those seeking a new life: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore.” This is where “We the People” and “We the Other People” should come to terms and decide: Either live up to the ideology of the recently restored Statue of Liberty or, accepting the global bigotry its currently representing, break free from the illusion and tear it down!
