New Slaves for the New Global Economy

Part 6.  Youth Are Commodities.

How can it be said, with such certainty, that Automatons (new slaves; see part 1) are cost effective; relatively cheap, abundant, and easily replaceable commodities to keep in place with minimal violence and intimidation? One needs to just recall Willy Lynch’s “The making of a slave” (see part 1): A manifesto generationally guaranteeing slave trust and loyalty by maintaining an atmosphere of fear, distrust, and envy; that once broken, divided, and conquered, the automaton can be easily selected, trained, and assigned based on their individual levels of weakness, gullibility, and depravation. Thus, it is safe to say that regardless of socio-economic status, we are all just another cog in the economic wheel of capitalism: Automatons unleashed within a socially alienating arena where “dog eats dog.” Dare you disagree? Let’s See!

It may be more obvious in countries like Thailand, India, Pakistan, Brazil, and Mauritania Africa than others like America and Great Britain, but children are good investments for present exploitations (e.g. human trafficking beyond just sex) and the making of future color, age and gender free automatons/ indentured servants. Using my own experience, let’s look at the indoctrinating role of education.

I grew up walking the prison-like walls of private catholic elementary school where for eight years I wore the SAME UNIFORM (navy blue pants, white shirt, a plaid tie and black shoes), pledged allegiance to the flag, and along with traditional classes, received religious and civil/civic instructions ON A DAILY BASIS. There were star stickers to win and when I stepped out of line, the nuns were quick to put a ruler across my hands. Put simply, I just had to pay attention, RECITE back what I heard and do what I’m told WITHOUT QUESTION. However, though I was an “A” student, I was very playful, used to daydream and draw. So, rather than develop my areas of unfolding interest and abilities (e.g. The Montessori Schools), they labeled me mal adjusted, took away my pencils, sent me to therapy, and put me on meds.  But because I never got over “questioning why,” catholic high school, college and the military got me further labeled a rebellious and disobedient deviant. Thus began my life as a mal adjusted automaton in need of correction or elimination; three successful careers that ended when demands went against my morals and principals. Be sincere and reflect on your own indoctrinating process.

Now look at today’s educational system. No more prayers to enforce morals and principles, no more pledge of allegiance to enhance communal ties, and no more civil/civic curriculums to talk about. Linear rote learning is still the norm. Virtual reality is on a steady rise while human interaction is on the decline and colleges seem to be dishing out nothing but voiceless drowns in droves: Conscience free and mechanically successful at their assigned tasks but left near heart and brain dead. However, in God’s eyes we were meant to be more. And our youth are more than commodities for sale! For better or worse they are our future. With important, key roles they will be filling (e.g. politicians, judges, lawyers, educators, law makers and enforcers etc.) hope they become more than mere hedonistic consumers but innovative producers for a better tomorrow. A tomorrow that values what should be our fundamental base of concerns: family and community. Lets look at that next month.

Mama/Papa's very own

Little Boy/Girl! Mama/Papa's very own

now nearing full grown

destined to a time and place not their own

but still here - still safe at home

Little Boy/Girl! Mama/Papa's very own

now nearing full grown

destined to hold future roles passed on

the economic baton – into the chase tossed in time

But wait! Listen before too late

Don't rush out life's starting gate

Don't fall to an early common fate

Take the narrow road and fly life getting it all straight

Know well how we - Us! friends and family

who hold you close, so warm and dear saying

Have your date and have your cake without fear

But when you play - know we pray - choose to brave and not go stray

Cause though little boy/girl now near grown

Destined to a time and place not your own

You still here - safe at home - you mama/Papa's very own

So stay close, safe and know

You Mama/Papa's special someone always safe

right here at home
