Jesus Factor: "X" Mas For Who

"X" Mas For Who

Times are rough and it’s getting hard to believe in better days to come. But it’s the end of the year and if but for a moment, time to put all that aside for a new dawn underway! It’s time to pull out that credit card and celebrate: Buy! Wrap and exchange gifts, put on that special attire, gather, eat, drink, and be merry. Really? My! My! How the spirit of Christmas has somehow been compromised into an “X”-Mas-MORE! Corrupted, exploited, and commercialized into the best month to cash in and exchange debt. And yes! For many it’s still time to visit church and be reminded (for an hour, a day, maybe even a week) of the virgin birth promising a global change of order, direction and command. Still resounding is its call for individual reflection, introspection and choice.

But this is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people have continued to love the opportunities offered by darkness (John 3:19). And it’s ok – it is what it is! It’s already stated: Small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few will find it (Mat7:14). Truth is there is a price: People will be unforgiving lovers of self, pleasure, money and power (2tim3). But bottom line, he said “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first (1cor1:18). Point: Whoever claims to live in “HIM” must live as Jesus did (1john2:6). Born into poverty (A Manger), persecution (King Herod), betrayal (Judas) and execution (Pontus Pilot). Yet he advocated love and justice for all while warning “Many (much) will come in my name … and deceive” (Mat24:5). And perceiving the forthcoming conflict of opinions He said, “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace but a dividing sword (Mat10:34).” So, be for real and ask yourself - Do you speak of love but harbor resentment - Do you preach sacrifice but cling to comfort - Do you wear the crown of glitter but reject the inherent one of thorns? Decide: Is this your CHRIST-mas or their X-mas?

However, be consoled! In closing He did say “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” He did say not to worry “I go to the Father on your behalf” and not only “will prepare a place for you” but will “send you a comforting counselor full of power.” Doubt not, Jesus was born to show “the way, truth, and light of life.”

So have your cake and celebrate to your heart’s content but remember; He will return not as a sacrificial lamb but a warrior claiming His own; those who heard and joined his call to action. Choose: Is this your CHRIST-Mas or their “X”-Mas?
